1234 Warm Up:
Begin today’s lesson by practicing the 1234 warm up exercise. Play the exercise at a slow but steady tempo and do the best that you can to keep a steady pace!
Go back to the two chords learned in the previous lesson and continue warming up by switching back and forth between the chord pairs at a slow, but steady pace.
Let’s learn two new chords today! Play E and Am depicted below.
Whenever we see a chord name that is just a letter (such as E) we simply assume the chord is a Major chord. Many minor chords will be written with a small “m” next to the letter name to indicate minor.
Remember to use the proper fingering as you practicing your chords. Our goal is to build your muscle memory! Now, play this set of chords at a slow and steady tempo with 4 down strums per chord, switching back and forth.
Next, we are going to pair together the two major chords that we’ve learned so far, (E and Asus2), and the two minor chords we’ve learned (Em and Am). Switch back and forth between E Major and Asus2. Then, try switching back and forth between Em and Am. Remember to keep a slow and steady tempo with 4 down strums per chord.
