John has been studying guitar for 36 years and has been teaching professionally for the past 23 years. In addition to teaching, John also maintains a busy performing schedule playing 4-6 times every month with a variety of bands.
John earned his bachelors degree of music in 1997 with a focus on guitar performance at the University of the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, Pa. During this time, he either studied or performed with Scott Henderson, Jimmy Bruno, Pat Martino, Phil Woods, John Swana, Gerald Veasley, Dave Samuels, Kenny Barron and Ron Kerber.
Versatility plays a big part in John’s teaching and playing. Styles from beginner to advanced include: Jazz, Country, Blues, Rock, Fingerstyle, Contemporary Percussive Guitar, Funk and Classical. He also places emphasis on Music Theory, Improvisation and overall musicianship so his students are equipped to handle the styles of their choice and have better command of their instrument.
For students who sign up for lessons with John, he offers an optional program of core material that organizes 7 skill sets into 8 ranks and 8 degrees for a total of 16 levels of achievement. This is a goal oriented approach to keep students motivated and striving toward their goals. All material taught in this system is everything a player will need to build their understanding and confidence as they pursue their journey on the guitar.
Since 2007, John has been an endorsed musician and has established relationships with a variety of companies. Peter Blackwell is an exceptionally well-rounded musician with experience as a professional recording artist, producer, post audio engineer, film scorer producer/editor and actor. Peter has written and produced music for national television series’, feature films, radio, and children’s theater productions. As a performer, Peter has lead his own original rock act and has shared the stage with such names such as REO Speedwagon, Ted Nugent, and Vixen among others. Peter has produced and recorded music ranging from adult alternative to surf rock to instrumental harp compositions and more. Today, Peter enjoys passing on his musical knowledge and experience to eager students. He teaches privately with RockStar Guitar and accepts students of all ages and skill levels.
When he’s not teaching aspiring rock stars to shred, Peter works on creating original music scoring, SFX, voice over, onscreen scripting, ambiences, mastering and more! His music can be heard in Homeland Nation, and Mescalero apache. Peter has won such awards as BEST PRODUCER -For his work on Homeland Nation – SINGLE OF THE YEAR For his contribution to Fred Kaydahzinne: “I am a Warrior” – BEST SOUNDTRACK – From the International Filmmakers Festival and BEST INSTRUMENTAL RECORDING – With Rickey Medlocke “Native Colors”. Peter is a Perfectionist at his craft whether it involves Music, Acting, Teaching, Research, Directing or Producing. Martin Motnik is a German-born studio and session guitarist and bass guitarist, known for being a versatile electric and upright bass player, a pioneer in online music recording, and his work with Uli Jon Roth (The Scorpions) and German Sony-artist Eisbrecher. He gained notoriety as a solo performer through his CD “Bass Invader” with Gregg Bissonette, and his works as a freelance bass player and studio musician.
Born and raised in Germany, one of Martin’s first international experiences was as bassist and background singer of the band “The Winners”, who had the #1 hit “Go for Gold”, which was used as the tile song of the Summer Olympic Games in Seoul.
Several bands later, Martin enjoyed nationwide success with his original band What4 thanks to being featured on Germany’s biggest private TV station ProSieben which had picked up one of Martin’s original compositions, “All Behind.” The band subsequently shared the stage with national acts such as No Angels and DJ Ötzi. Around that time Martin started receiving phone calls from other bands or artists asking him to play bass on their recordings, or be a stand-in player for bands whose regular bassist dropped out.
As a solo artist, Martin released a CD in 2005 together with internationally acclaimed session drummer Gregg Bissonette. The CD “Bass Invader” received praising reviews from magazines all over the world. He toured Europe extensively with the bands Darkseed, Eisbrecher, and The Roxx, supporting singer Graham Bonnet.
In 2008 Martin relocated from Munich, Germany to Los Angeles, CA. Now living in the United States, and with over 2,000 live performances, TV shows and videos to his name, Martin has toured, performed or recorded with the likes of Uli Jon Roth, Chris Slade, Gregg Bissonette, Chad Wackerman, Marco Minnemann, Doug Bossi, and Ray Parker Jr.
2010 has brought Martin to Las Vegas, NV, where he is currently writing and recording new original music. In addition, he is in the progress of writing his first instructional book which will be catering to the advanced bass player. He continues to work as a versatile studio and session bassist, having worked with Dale Bozzio’s Missing Persons, Hal Blaine and Don Randi of the Wrecking Crew, and performing with the Las Vegas Jazz Trio, and in the solo band of London’s frontman Nadir Dpriest.
Jared is a professional guitarist, musician, band leader, composer, song writer, teacher, author and just another lucky person who has been bitten the music bug. Jared started playing guitar seriously at the “late” age of 17. He immediately joined jazz band, in high school, studied with the best private teachers he could find and got into a band of his own. After high school he went to Meramec CC in St. Louis MO for music. He then transferred to University Of St. Louis Missouri (UMSL) to continue his music degree. He was teaching lessons, working as a stage hand and performing many large concerts with an original band Rhyme Or Reason. Following college he then moved to LA to attend one of the most famous contemporary guitar schools in the world, Musicians Institute (GIT).
While there, he studied under many world famous guitarists and musicians. Dean Brown, Allen Hinds, Daniel Gilbert and Sid Jacobs just to name a small few. During this time he also got married to a talented young singer, Anna Yanova-Cattoor. They got married in CBS Studio’s during a live show that they starred in with the famous actress Dyan Cannon.
He and Anna started a band, traveled across the US, and moved to Bulgaria to be on the reality TV show VIP Brother. They then released their first EP titled “Together” as well as his first book at the same time titled “Music Theory Puzzles”. Jared and Anna work as a team to create music for many people all over the world.
Tony Burnett is a highly respected guitarist and teacher in Southern California. To date, Tony has taught over 15,000 students and has seen some of his students go on and get signed, make albums, tour the world, go on tv, and even become teachers themselves. Tony has written and released 4 instructional dvd’s which have sold over 100,000 copies worldwide and have been featured in Guitar World, Guitar One, Guitar Player, Metal Edge, Revolver and Circus magazines.
Tony is also a live and studio performer with over 5000 gigs under his belt ranging from small coffee shops and bars to arenas in front of over 18,000 people. Tony has played in several original and cover/tribute bands which include tributes to Dream Theater, Rush, Metallica, Queensryche, Van Halen, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, The Cars, Foreigner and several 80’s metal tributes. Tony is currently the guitarist/vocalist for Driven and also the guitarist for 80’s Brigade, a highly talented cover band that plays all around the Inland Empire. Tony also does several fill-ins for bands around Southern California and has always been known as the “go to guy” due to his reputation for being punctual, and an encyclopedia of songs.
Tony prides himself for his dedication to his craft. He is a graduate of both Musicians Institute and University of California Riverside with degrees in guitar performance and music theory.
Hope majored in music composition technology at ORU and attended the contemporary music center in Martha’s Vineyard, MA. Over the last fifteen years, she has taught private lessons through her own practice as well as at three music academies, totaling over a thousand one-on-one students. Many of the artists she has worked with, both former and current, are recording and touring musicians thriving in their passions and purposes. Some have record deals, others have publishing companies, and all have permanently impacted her and contributed to the purpose drenched nature of her approach.
She has released two full length albums and completed two statewide tours for each album. Between those releases, she won a “Best Songwriter” Los Angeles Music Award. She was chosen as “Judges Pick” in three songwriting contests with indi.com for her most recent material. She regularly writes and records with various esteemed producers including Kevin Teasley (Harry Potter, Twilight), David Huff (Rascall Flatts, Taylor Swift), Chris James (Prince, Self), Mike Whittaker (Cake, Lionel Richie), Jeffery David (Seal, Echosmith), and Ran Jackson (Katy Perry, The Daylights). Over forty of her songs were placed in feature film movie trailers, indie films, commercials and major network tv shows.
Jonas Jalhay is a musician, producer and musical director currently residing in Los Angeles, CA. He grew up in Namur, Belgium, but relocated to London at the age of 17 to pursue a career in music. In 2001, Jonas attended the renowned Academy of Contemporary Music. In 2004, he appeared on his first national tour, playing guitar for Island Record’s artist, Lady Sovereign. Since then, Jonas has established himself by working with major record label acts such as Rita Ora, Jesse J, and Taio Cruz, just to name a few.
Outside of extensive touring, he has expanded upon his knowledge and experience by working on production, mixing and programming projects. While in London, Jonas and producer Mark Crew co-founded Unit 24 Studios, where they worked with artists such as Bastille and Taylor Swift. Most recently, he worked as a Musical Director for 5 Seconds of Summer and their support band Hey Violet, undertaking the live programming and arrangements for their upcoming arena world tour. In addition, Jonas has been fortunate enough to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman, Late night with Seth Meyers, Good Morning America, Dancing With The Stars, Jimmy Kimmel, MTV European Music Awards, Ryan Seacrest Radio, R1 Live Lounge, TV Total, Le Grand Journal, GMTV, The morning show, X Factor, Graham Norton, The Jonathan Ross Show, Glastonbury Festival, V Festival, and R1 Big Weekend.
