I have taught many students of various ages over a 6 year period. I am classically trained on the guitar. I am also versatile in almost every genre including rock, metal, jazz, and more. I studied music performance and theory at Umass Lowell. Most recently I played guitar in Travel Amygdala, a metal band from Revere, MA. Nowadays I am a full-time student at Suffolk Law School studying music licensing and entertainment law. Teaching allows me to keep my passion for playing guitar while passing on what I know to my students.
It all started with a video game known as “Guitar Hero.” In 2005, I did not know much about music but the instant I heard the opening riff from Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” I knew I wanted to play guitar. Thereafter, I would practice every day for at least 2-hours. I played until my fingers ached and even fell asleep with my guitar in hand a few times. Over the course of my High School days, I played in a few rock and funk bands but my favorite was playing a full concert rendition of Led Zeppelin and Metallica songs. I have become the guitarist I am today through sheer determination and practice; but also a lot of fun!
My teaching style is all about cooperation. Not just with me, but yourself. From the basics of playing a scale or chord to mastering the guitar, the best teacher will be practice. My method of teaching will require you to master the material you learn one week to the next. For the novice players or complete newbies I can teach the basics of how to hold a guitar, how to strum and use a pick, how to fingerpick, and proper posture. Once a student has sufficiently learned the basics he or she can pick a song to learn (within limitations of course). Once the Student has learned how to play a song or just a chord progression or scale we flesh out the rhythm by jamming together. (I can play bass, drums, piano, and harmonica as well). This practice will allow the Student to improvise and start the process of creating your own songs! For more intermediate or advanced players I can teach about methods of soloing such as alternative/sweep picking and pinch harmonics. Additionally, I offer studies in music theory, bass guitar, drums, and piano. I can help students reach their goals by being the musical guru they need whenever they need it. Never give up and practice every day.
