This year will mark my 26th year of playing the guitar. I started teaching after I graduated from the Atlanta Institute of Music back in the late 90s. I taught around 5000 lessons to students of all ages and styles before I moved to Las Vegas back in 2011 to join the headline show Recycled Percussion. After the group finished in 3rd place on America’s Got Talent, we had a headline show for nearly 8 years on the famed Las Vegas strip. During that time I played almost 3000 shows all over the US and internationally, performed on America’s Got Talent, played at Super Bowl LI, played NFL and NBA halftime shows, hundreds of corporate events and some of the most iconic venues across the country. I’ve started teaching again here in Las Vegas and I’m super excited to be a part of RockStar Guitar.
I got my first guitar for my 13th birthday as I wanted to be like Slash, and after my first guitar lesson I was hooked and never looked back. After taking years of private lessons, attending Guitar summer programs, and every music class I could in high school, I attended the Atlanta Institute of Music. I graduated top of my class with a 4.0 and have been continuing my knowledge and passion ever since. I have a rock background and am well versed in technique and players like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Slash etc.
I always ask every single student I have to tell me what it is that made them want to play guitar. I ask for a list of bands, songs, guitar players that inspire them, and then use that as goals for the students to be able to accomplish. Obviously there has to be fundamentals that every student learns, but from there each lesson is tailored to each individual students needs and wants. From my many years of experience both teaching and performing, I have a fantastic background to be able to help every student achieve their goals.
