This is Sergio Aldana. I am a guitar player, music producer, and composer. With over eight years of experience as a professional in the music industry. As a guitar player I have recorded around ten professional albums and EP’s for different artists from USA, Canada, Guatemala, Mexico, Bolivia and Colombia. I have also toured nationally back home in Colombia playing with top 40 pop artists, doing private and public shows in venues of over 30.000 people. I have had the opportunity of doing openings and sharing stages with Grammy Award winner artists like Camila, Carlos Vives, Fonseca and many others. As a music producer, I have produced singles and EP’s for different artists and singer-songwriters from USA, Canada, and Colombia. Music composition is one of my biggest passions as well, and as a composer, one of my most significant achievements is to have been honored with the Writing & Composition Scholarship by Berklee before becoming a student at the campus. I hold a Bachelor Degree in Music from Berklee College of Music where I majored in Contemporary Writing & Production and minored in Music Production & Engineering.
As a guitar player, I have had the opportunity of learning from the masters. Taking master classes and workshops with amazing guitar players like Frank Gambale, Eric Johnson, Mike Stern, Steve Lukather, Kiko Loureiro, Tim Miller, and many others has allowed me to expand the knowledge in different guitar techniques, and it has also allowed me to learn how to play different music genres and different styles of music.
As a versatile guitar player, I think it is important being able to understand all the roles that you can take in a song as a guitar player. It is great when you can compose or improvise an awesome solo over a rock song, a blues progression, a jazz standard, or a pop song, but it’s even better, essential, and so important if you can also be able to take the role of a solid rhythm guitar player, create a rhythm guitar part or a cool riff, and play with steady groove.
I love sharing valuable information that helps students to reach their specific goals when studying guitar and music. I describe my teaching style as customized, efficient, and fun! From there I really enjoy seeing the process and the progress that students go through when studying and learning guitar.
