Overview:
I started performing professionally with my first band at age 15. A successful rock and blues outfit, we played throughout my high school years at some notable, large venues. This passion for playing led me to Berklee College of Music where I had the opportunity to study with the best in the world. Immersed in Jazz and contemporary styles, Berklee taught me to push the boundaries of understanding and possibility. Since graduating I’ve been involved in all types of projects, teaching, recording and performing in the Southern California area for over 10 years.
Expertise:
My drive on the guitar has always come from an initial spark of interest towards the instrument. Listening to old records and playing along with the radio for hours each day. Every time I would hear something cool I’d have to figure it out. It is this never ending quest to understand sounds that makes it so much fun. Once you start to get a grip on the concept your working on the reward factor skyrockets. Everything I have learned has been in the interest of having the most fun.
Teaching Style:
The old saying goes: If you teach a student a song he can play one song. If you teach them how the song works they can play many songs…or something like that. Many teachers will only offer the very surface information and this will leave a student feeling discouraged after years of lessons. My goal is to give you the tips you need to not only play the guitar but understand what you do. That knowledge is lasting and much more valuable. In a positive and laid back learning environment, I will tour guide you through your musical journey.
